There was a time quite a number of years back, I was standing at a bus-stop somewhere and there were quite a number of young people about 70 or 80. A majority of them were standing in groups while a few were standing in groups while a few were standing individually as myself. They looked to be about the ages of 18 to 25 years.
Many matatus passed by and none of them agreed to board any until a certain empty matatu came along and they dashed for it leaving the conductor perplexed about what was happening as even there was another matatu just before it that had stopped and the youths had completely refused to board it. Infact the conductor of the matatu that was being occupied was even asking the other what was going on as he couldn't understand.
This truly showed that when young people want something, they will do anything to get it even if it is in silence as there silence really speaks loudly even when there is a number of them not on the streets chanting slogans or carrying placards.
There was even a time there were matatus that were charging ksh 40 for a distance of ksh 15and many youths went for the matatus that were charging ksh 40 as they said that those were the matatus they wanted until a consensus was reached that all the matatus of that destination be charging ksh 20.
